GONG SHOW BILLETS ARE ALL THE RAGE

It’s that time of the year again when we are starting to hear about player housing nightmares. Here are some of the latest hits to hit our in box.

Is it normal for a billet to be 75-90 minutes away from the practice rink?

This is a shed out behind their house, we are on our own for food.

Nothing against alternative relationships, but is it a really good idea to have two billet dads?

Team is going to get us apartments in a college town known for its outrageousness. What could go wrong?

That last one really caused a stir considering fact that GM told me less than a month ago that club had great support from local hockey association for billets. What do you think the over/under for police visits is going to be before Thanksgiving? Five?

Parents have clearly lost their mind.

This is the kind of poopfest that devalues the concept of junior hockey. None of this would be happening when USA Hockey’s Dave Tyler was overseeing the level of play.

The billeting issue is just another byproduct of USA Hockey’s refusal to enforce tier standards. Now the league’s police their own standards, if there were any to enforce. Apparently, teams can do whatever they want as long as the league office receives their league dues payments.

The NA3HL finally put down the dead horse that was the Dallas based Mid-Cities Stars. It looks like Austin and Yellowstone could be next on the chopping block this season.

There’s a really good reason most colleges and universities have first-year students living in dorms. So why in the heck would any junior team think it’s a good idea to put first-year players into their own apartments?

Guess we know where all the team gatherings are going to take place.
