BCHL Coaches’ Notes

By Tomas Heisler

We are asking British Columbia Hockey League coaches a different question each week. In this series, coaches get to tell you exactly what they are thinking about their teams’ progression each week.

This Week’s Questions: How do you feel about your team’s performance this past week? Tell us about a rookie who has exceeded your expectations so far this season.

Jason McKee- Head Coach/GM, Vernon Vipers: We are happy to get two wins in two very different ways. Finding a way to get both wins was a challenge but happy with the results moving into this week. Julian Facchinelli has been a very consistent performer for our group on both sides of the puck. We are able to use Julian in all situations and has the ability to bring out the the best in his teammates as well.

Chris Clark- Head Coach, Wenatchee Wild: Friday I thought we let one slip away against Trail in the third period. Credit to Trail for taking advantage of our mistakes. As we know in this division, you have to play a full 60 minutes to have chance for success. It was a great learning lesson for our group. On Saturday we played a much more complete game against a very good Cranbrook group. I thought Andy was excellent in net and our guys did a good job getting to the hard areas to score our goals. We feel all our first year guys are all doing a really nice job as they navigate through their first month of junior hockey. Having as many experienced guys as we do has allowed our first year guys the ability to make the adjustments needed in junior hockey. Christian Kim has had a really nice start to his junior career. He and his line mates have had pretty good chemistry so far.
