“We’ll Win Tonight” – Mark Messier’s bold guarantee that the Rangers would win Game 6 against the Devils in the 1994 Eastern Conference Finals was great idea and he delivered by scoring a hat trick to help his team force a Game 7.
It’s fairly clear that just about any North American Hockey League coach would go ballistic if one of his players spouted off such a statement in public, or even on social media. Messier’s confidence however could be just the ticket needed to boost the moral of a team on the brink of polishing off the golf clubs.
